For Quick Access to Library Resources, Try the Library Toolbar

Did you know the library toolbar will allow you to access your favorite library resources, like the catalog and EBSCO's ATLA and CPLI, with one click? You can view a brief video on the toolbar before you download it. The toolbar is compatible with IE, Chrome, and Firefox; please ask for instructions in the library if you have difficulty installing the toolbar with Safari.

Library's Digitized Books on Women Religious Added to Internet Archive

The library's books from the latest proposal for CARLI's Book Digitization Initiative, Women Religious in the United States, have been added to the Internet Archive. Previous digitized items included multiple volumes of several Catholic periodicals, such as the Franciscan Herald and Catholic Fortnightly Review.

Library Hours for Christmas Break

The library will be open Monday-Friday from 9am to 4pm from Tuesday, December 13th until Thursday, December 22nd. The library will be closed from Friday, December 23rd until Monday, January 2nd. The library will re-open on Tuesday, January 3rd.

Statewide Database Trial Runs Through November 30th

The twelfth annual Try-It! Illinois statewide database trial begins October 1 and runs through November 30. Try-It! Illinois offers library staff and users an excellent opportunity to survey and evaluate a wide variety of electronic resources. Thanks to partnerships between the Illinois State Library and the participating electronic resource vendors, there is no charge for accessing these databases during Try-It! Illinois. Please stop by the library for the login and password for the trial.

Project Muse E-Journal Trial Available Until December 11

The library has trial access for Project Muse Humanities e-journals until December 11. Project Muse provides full text access to journals from many scholarly societies and university presses.

Project Muse E-Books Available for Preview

Over 300 digital books, from 27 publishers, are available for free sample access on the ProjectMuse beta site until the end of 2011. Project Muse provides a platform for scholarly journal content from university press publishers, and will now include books from some of these publishers as well.

Brown Bag Zotero Workshop Friday, October 14th

Would you like to learn more about using Zotero to manage your citations and make bibliographies? This workshop will cover the basics of installing Zotero, how to save citations to Zotero, and how to create citations in appropriate citation styles. The workshop is from 12pm to 1pm in room 504. You may bring your lunch, and bring your laptop if you wish; additional help will be available after the workshop if you need assistance in installing Zotero.

More JSTOR Journals from Early Journal Content

JSTOR has announced that all JSTOR journals published prior to 1923 in the United States and prior to 1870 elsewhere will be freely available to the public. CTU library patrons should continue to use CTU's JSTOR login, and CTU alums should continue to use MyJSTOR. The additional journal content will be incorporated into CTU's journal collection. CTU alums who have not registered for MyJSTOR can contact us for login instructions.

New Students - Please Validate Your ID in the Library

New CTU students will need to bring their student ID to the library in order check out books. Once you have registered your ID at the circulation desk, you can create an account in the library catalog.This account will allow you to place interlibrary loan requests, view your checked out items and renew them, email catalog records, and keep a list of favorites in your account. You can create this account at the login page by filling in the requested information, choosing an easy to remember user name and password, and filling in your library barcode information on the account creation page.

If you would like to use one of the ACTS libraries or the University of Chicago library, please sign up for an ACTS card at the circulation desk when you register your student ID.

ATLA Conference Day on Campus Welcomed Librarians

A good time was had by all when over 170 theological librarians attended the ATLA Conference day on campus at CTU and LSTC/McCormick campuses on June 11th. Video will be available on ATLA's YouTube Channel, as well as Shutterfly. Thanks to everyone who made the day on campus a success!

CTU Will Welcome ATLA Conference on June 11

The 2011 American Theological Library Association (ATLA) Conference will meet in Chicago June 8th-11th, and CTU will host the day on campus for conference attendees on Saturday, June 11th. The conference is hosted by both CATLA and the ACTS libraries, and draws on average over 250 attendees every year. The library is pleased to welcome colleagues to our campus!

Library Hours for Summer and Summer Institute

Beginning May 18th, summer library hours will be in effect.
Monday-Friday: 9am-4pm
The library will be closed Memorial Day, Monday, May 30th.

For Summer Institute, the library will be open the following schedule -
June 6th - June 24th
Monday-Thursday: 8am-7pm
Friday: 8:30am-4:pm

During the summer, the library is closed Saturday and Sunday.

Advanced Zotero Workshop for DMin Students March 8th

There will be a Zotero workshop for DMin students on Tuesday, March 8th in Room 337 from noon to 1pm. Zotero is a research management tool for organizing and saving citations and creating bibliographies and footnotes. Feel free to bring your lunch.
